Please please please don't let the front cover put you off This was an unexpected delight I found a joy in the nostalgia of young love described in a refreshingly innocent way often lost these days to the real life issues varietyFrom the outset I knew that the affair was doomed to fail set in wartime England a visiting US pilot whirlwind romance you get the picture Not to mention hints of what other girls are up to and suspicious adults jumping to conclusions The story was not entirely original in it's themes yet the solution to the mystery of the brother brought a tear to my eyeNevertheless there was enough in the plot to keep me reading I am such a fan these days of the short chapter format which certainly helpedand eager to join up all the dots so carefully drawn by Val Rutt Little details such as the engines and types of planes used etc gave the story a cetain amount of authenticity and stopped the whole thing from feeling too soppy I shall certainly be seeking out of her writing
