The Myth Seeker is an interesting book written by Cory Barclay I didn't know what to expect when I started reading this book I found that the book was written a tad simplistically and just didn't have a good flow to it all Don't take me wrong I found that the concept of the book was very different and uniue and I really think the author has something there however I found the execution of the story was not the greatest and fell flat at least in my opinionThe plot seemed a bit to me like someone was just rambling of a story Yes there were some twists and turns in there but some were just too far fetched and some just didn't seem to make sense Others were just added to find some solution for a problem in the story that all the sudden existed and no I can't give examples or there would be spoilers and those I just don't doBut importantly even the characters were just difficult to relate to So I really wanted to like Steve but it was just not going to happen One on side he seemed like a really nice guy then he flew off the rocker and started cursing over little things There were just too many contradictions within his character and he just seemed flatDale was also very flat and had just two modes drinking and working and then back to drinking which seems to be his main mode Nice guy but very one dimensionalAnd then the most confusing one of them all Annabel So she acts like a teenager most of the time they treat her like a kid but all the sudden her and Steve develop romantic feelings for each other And when they do even that doesn't seem real at all There is a whole lot of nothing and then a kiss out of the blue with a girl him and Dale just minutes earlier treated like a little girl Disturbing and just weirdI am going to cave on this one I thought the concept was really neat with Myst Seekers and Myth Makers but sadly the execution fell flat for me in many ways No editorial errors to speak of so that is a major plus in my eyes but since I couldn't relate to any of the characters really and the plot didn't really grab my attention much I will have to pass on this series It just wasn't for me but hey give it a go it might be your type of book even if it wasn't for me

review The Myth Seeker (Mythbound, #1)

The Myth Seeker Mythbound #1Ought these flawed mythical beings to our world But he has no idea how he did it which is a problem because it’s his job to bring them home All this responsibility is putting a serious damper on Steve’s dir. Cory Barclay has definitely delivered an enticing first in series book with The Myth Seeker The story sweeps you up right away and has you soon racing for the answers along with his intriguing characters I can’t wait for the next oneSteve Remington is in the music business After his own band failed he went behind the scenes Now he owns a studio always looking for someone talented enough to really make a big break Most months he rents out studio space for bands to practice to make the rent Still he is his own boss and his dream still lives if a bit wiltedSteve didn’t get along with his father well Still his death is hitting him hard Standing at his graveside during the funeral Steve just can’t pay attention That is when he sees her The girl sitting on a grave playing music for the dead She is mesmerizing in her gothic white dress but really it is the chords from her guitar that draw him The music is magic melancholy memories haunting He wanders from his father’s funeral to listen When she finishes Steve hands the girl his business card There is a thrum of energy between them a life changing moment for each if they only knew Annabel Lee appears at the studio that afternoon and their first collaborative song unfolds Bel is reluctant to lay down the vocals “I am a Banshee Bad things happen when I sing” Of course who on Earth would believe that of this innocent girlGrab your copy of The Myth Seeker and watch the magic unfold

I LOVED the Of Witches and Werewolves series so when I noticed the pre sale for this one I had to grab it This was a little different not the dark historical fiction I had gotten used to while reading the trilogy but it is certainly written just as wellI am a huge fan of different genres Mythopoeia Historical Fiction Fantasy and it makes me so happy to get it all from one AuthorThe Myth Seeker was a pretty fun story Dark but fun It kind of gave me the same feeling as the first time I read 'The Graveyard Book' by Neil Gaiman The 'fantastical but 'maybe what if ' feels Love Love Love all of Cory Barclay's books that I've read thus far Thanks for sharing your imagination with the world
