Historical fiction as much as possible should be based on factual information and good research I rate books but do not generally review books This book is so bad I feel I must almost send out a warning It is written as a young adult historical fiction novel set in WWii I think the author chose the topic of training women to be ferry pilots as young girls you can do anything vehicle She definitely missed the mark on both accountsThis is my first but minor issue Even though this book is set in the 1940s young readers should not be told tans are healthy glows Has the author never heard of skin cancer There was no reason to perpetuate this myth Secondly she still insinuated that the young women were all flying only with the approval of males mostly boyfriends or fiancés While this was probably the norm for the time period I feel the author could have handled it in a much positive mannerHowever my main issue is that this was written as historical fiction It is fiction than history The author did not do her homework The book is so filled with inaccuracies I don't know where to to begin From the types of planes being trained on to the capabilities of the planes the information was completely inaccurate Good and relatively easy to find research would have provided factual information not altered the story line and stayed true to what the women really did accomplish For example B26 planes were medium bombers were not used by these women at that airfield cannot fly at 35000 feet etc etc etc I feel you should learn from historical fiction and I want valid informationI won't even go into the stereotypical characters weak plot or the uality of the writingI think the author found a great subject but unfortunately wrote a very bad book This book obliviously didn't have decent editors researchers or publishers either

Skies Over SweetwaterMs and find our own place in the world through courage integrity and passion Readers of all ages will love the WASP's story of achievement friendship and patrioti. This is historical fiction story about the WASP Women Airforce Service Pilots paramilitary program women pilots who flew under the direction of the Army during World War II Their job was to free up male pilots for combat duty 25000 women applied but only 1074 passed the training A total of 38 women who flew military aircraft lost their lives the Army did not pay to ship their bodies home and were not even allowed a flag draped over their caskets the Army did not recognize WASP as official military In 1977 the WASP was finally recognized and given Veteran status I was a little disappointed in the book; it could've been so much but it's perfect for young adults an easy read for all ages and an interesting lesson in history
