The summary really got me interested and I'm glad it doesn't betray my expectation I admit when it comes to expectations based on summaries mine are always set too high While this one isn't exactly what I pictured I'd get it isn't a disappointment eitherThe story is addicting and I really like the author's writing style It's has a nice mix of suspense and romance I actually prefer the mysteries over the romance bits Not because the romance aren't good enough far from it actually but because I just love how it keeps you edgy and wondering what would happen next The alternating point of views are both helpful and gripping as we get to know everyone's side of the story and the story is full of irony obviously And just to clear things up I love Ken and Sherry's relationship than Wes and Lauren's and I wish I can get to know about them but oh well a reader can't complain much Great read 4 or 5 stars

I don’t read a lot of contemporary romance It’s usually not my thing but I’m glad I made an exception for Friends and Lovers by Tara Mills I adored the heroine Lauren Her motivations were clear and she reminded me of one of my best friends I was so easy to adore her Wes is HOT as heck The author does a good job of making him sexy but human His combination of vulnerability and masculinity was great This book was wonderful I don’t do spoilers in my reviews but these are the reasons I LOVED this book I grew up in a home filled with domestic violence and the fear and abusers actions and attitude was very realistic Sylvia Coulter’s fear and struggle is sadly too realistic in this country Her fight for freedom and the real danger was portrayed well by the author I love how Wes helps Lauren overcome her own tragedy and sorrow I could see how Sylvia’s story could help a reader who hasn’t lived through that kind of fear know exactly why the heroine was so afraid of her brother in law getting out of prison 1 The characters are realistic and well fleshed out These characters could be breathing Ms Mills does such a good job making them jump off the page and into your heart2 The domestic violence was realistic without it hitting the reader over the head3 I loved the friendship dynamic between Wes’s pregnant sister and the heroine4 Sherry’s pregnancy issues were realistic I’ve had two preemies and I didn’t feel that this was done in a generic or “over the top” way5 The sex was written amazingly well6 This has a wonderful HEA endingWithout spoiling the book or spitting back the plot I hope I’ve encouraged you to try this book if you’re looking for a hot contemporary romance with some real substance This is a fun read but it’s not just fluff ENJOYAshlynn Monroe

Friends and LoversEr himSylvia Coulter knows if she could go back and give her younger self some hard earned advice it’s unlikely she’d get through to the misty eyed romantic She’d tell her a day is coming when she fears her husband Sadly innocence truly was bliss––bliss with an expiration dateJust as Laur. Book Review Friends and Lovers by Tara MillsLauren had the biggest crush on Wes even though he went after anything in a skirt and her best friend was his little sister Sherry She knew about every girl he dated which was than she liked but she loved him just the same No one knew how she felt She kept her feelings to herself not even telling Sherry Wes left for college and moved on but Lauren still pined for him and knew she loved him Then her older sister was murdered and Lauren withdrew from her friend She distanced herself from everything and started her crusade of saving as many battered women as she could with the shelter she ranThen one day when welcoming a new woman and her children into her shelter she comes face to face with Wes Her shock is clear and throws her life into a crazy spin She still loves him even years later Wes is now a cop and is just as shocked to see Lauren Unknown to anyone he has also harbored feelings and fantasies of his own He helps her reconnect to Sherry then recues her when their worlds collide in a scary wayThis CR was a great read The characters were well written and came across as real people as you watched the story unfold They struggled with their feelings and Lauren’s insecurities were tough to overcome The love scenes were written to entice but left enough to the reader’s imagination This was an excellent story with just enough action and reality to keep the reader avidly reading I couldn’t put it down I give it 4 out of 5 books
