This is a simple but sweet picture book for younger children I would recommend it for children 4 and younger as I feel like its simplicity will be less engrossing for older children It is a sweet story of two polar bear cubs They become friends as they explore the arctic I used it in my classroom while we were learning about the arctic as an animal habitat and in that sense it was very effective They encounter several different arctic species on their travels The art style made it a little difficult to distinguish at times when it was all white but it was still uniue and fun The descriptions combined with a few interspersed wordless pages make it enjoyable for younger readers it also introduces so complex vocabulary in context though you may have to offer additional explanation The emphasis on the art encourages discussion and exploration between children and adults I found it effective when we read the story's it was written as well as talked about what was happening in the pictures While I wouldn't say this is one of my favorite books of all time it is one I enjoyed and will use again in my classroom

L She sees a snowy face snowy paws and snowy fur What can it beThrilling words and glowing pictures make this morning time tale of first friendship as satisfying as a warm hug. The polar bear from Polar Bear Night now wakes up in the day and makes a friend Cute but just missing something in the writing I don't think all kid books have to rhyme but it's just not lyrical at all Again the art work is what stands out here
